Social Media Image Resizer
Upload an image and resize or crop it to the exact current dimensions for any social platform with one-click presets. Choose cover or contain fit, then download — all in your browser, nothing uploaded.
Your image is processed locally in your browser — nothing is uploaded.
How to use this tool
- Drag and drop an image, or click to select one.
- Pick a platform preset (Instagram, YouTube, X, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Pinterest).
- Choose a fit: Cover fills the frame and crops the edges; Contain fits the whole image and pads the sides.

- Click Download to save the resized PNG.
Why use our Social Media Image Resizer?
Every social platform has different — and frequently changing — image specs, and uploading the wrong size means awkward cropping, blur, or rejection. This tool keeps the current dimensions in one place and resizes your image to them with a single click, using a crop that either fills the frame or pads it to fit. Everything happens on the canvas in your browser, so your images are never uploaded to a server, and there is no signup or watermark.
Why platform image sizes matter
Each network crops and compresses uploads to its own aspect ratio. If your image doesn't match, the platform may crop out important parts, downscale it into blur, or reject it. Starting from the correct dimensions means your visual looks sharp and framed exactly as you intended on every feed.
- Instagram post: 1080×1080 · Story/Reel: 1080×1920
- YouTube thumbnail: 1280×720
- X header: 1500×500 · Facebook cover: 1200×630
- LinkedIn banner: 1584×396 · Pinterest pin: 1000×1500
Cover vs. contain: choosing the right crop
Use Cover for photos where the subject is centered and the edges are expendable — it fills the frame with no padding. Use Contain for logos, screenshots, or full-scene images that must stay whole; the tool adds a solid background of your choice so nothing is cut off.
Frequently Asked Questions
What size should an Instagram post be?
A square Instagram post is 1080×1080 pixels; a portrait story or reel is 1080×1920. Use the Instagram presets in this tool to resize to either exactly.
What is the correct YouTube thumbnail size?
YouTube thumbnails are 1280×720 pixels (16:9). Select the YouTube preset and the tool crops or pads your image to that size.
What is the difference between Cover and Contain?
Cover scales the image so it fills the entire frame, cropping whatever falls outside — best when you don't mind losing the edges. Contain scales the image so all of it fits, adding padding of your chosen color to fill the rest — best when the whole image must be visible.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. All resizing and cropping happen on a canvas in your browser using the HTML Canvas API. Your image never leaves your device, so it is safe for private or unpublished visuals.
What format is the output?
The tool exports a PNG at the exact pixel dimensions of the selected preset. PNG preserves quality and transparency where present.
Do the presets stay up to date?
The presets reflect the current recommended dimensions for each platform. Platforms occasionally change specs, so we review and refresh them periodically.
