EXIF Viewer & Metadata Remover
See exactly what your photo reveals — then erase it. GPS location, camera model, timestamps and more, removed privately in your browser. Works with iPhone HEIC photos too.

JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, TIFF, GIF, BMP, AVIF · RAW files are read-only · Your file never leaves your browser
Your photos are processed entirely in your browser and never uploaded to any server.
How to use this tool
- Drag and drop your photo onto the page, or click the upload area to choose a file (JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF, TIFF, GIF, BMP or AVIF).
- The tool instantly reads and displays all hidden EXIF metadata: GPS coordinates, camera make and model, exposure settings, and timestamps.
- If GPS data is found, an interactive map appears right in the page showing the exact spot where the photo was taken.
- Click "Remove All Metadata" to strip the data from your image — the file is cleaned in your browser without uploading anything.
- Download the clean copy. Your original file is unchanged; the cleaned file is re-checked to confirm zero metadata remains.
Why use our EXIF Viewer & Metadata Remover?
Every photo your phone or camera takes secretly stores hidden data — GPS coordinates that pinpoint where you live or work, the exact date and time, your device model, and sometimes even software version and copyright fields. When you share that photo online — on Marketplace, Instagram, forums, or by email — that data travels with it. Our EXIF Viewer lets you see exactly what is exposed before you share, then strips it all out. For JPEG and PNG the removal is lossless; for HEIC, TIFF, WebP and other formats the image is decoded and re-encoded into a fresh file so nothing carries over, and every cleaned file is re-parsed to prove no metadata remains. Everything happens locally in your browser; your photos are never sent to any server.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does removing EXIF data reduce image quality?
For JPEG and PNG files, our tool removes metadata at the binary level without re-encoding the pixels, so quality is 100% identical to the original. WebP is re-encoded at very high quality (96%). HEIC, TIFF and other formats are decoded and re-encoded to JPEG or PNG to guarantee a clean file — a conversion notice tells you when this happens.
Is my photo uploaded to your servers?
Never. The entire process — reading EXIF tags, converting HEIC, drawing the map, and stripping metadata — runs locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your file does not leave your device at any point. Map tiles are the only network request, and they never include your photo.
Does it work with iPhone HEIC photos?
Yes. HEIC and HEIF photos from iPhones are fully supported: the tool reads their metadata and GPS, shows the location on the map, and produces a clean JPEG copy with all metadata removed. Because browsers cannot save HEIC without embedded data, the cleaned copy is converted to JPEG — this is clearly indicated.
What metadata does EXIF contain?
EXIF can include GPS latitude and longitude, camera make and model, lens model, exposure time, aperture, ISO, focal length, flash, white balance, the date and time the photo was taken, orientation, color space, plus XMP and IPTC fields like artist, copyright, caption, keywords and rating.
What image formats are supported?
Fully supported (read metadata + export a verified-clean file): JPEG/JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF, TIFF, GIF, BMP and AVIF (the last few depend on your browser being able to decode them). Read-only (metadata is shown but a cleaned copy cannot be generated in the browser): RAW camera files such as DNG, CR2, CR3, NEF, ARW, RAF, ORF, RW2, PEF and SRW. Other formats show a clear unsupported message.
Do Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp remove EXIF data?
Most social platforms strip EXIF during upload — but not always immediately, and not consistently. Direct file sharing (email, Dropbox, Marketplace, forums) sends the raw file with all metadata intact. It is always safer to strip it yourself before sharing.
